Moulton School Newsletter 20 July 2010

End of Term BBQ

Thank you to everyone who came along to support the Friends of Moulton’s Summer BBQ! We had a great evening and raised a clear L850 for Moulton School!!!

Thank You to all who spent their precious time in helping to organise the event, in manning the stalls, running the bar and making salads and deserts. And a specially big THANK YOU to Ian Spinks who not only organised and ran the BBQ itself, but also did the same for the Year 4 Thetford Bike Hike last week. Thank You Very Much Ian!

Year 3 ‘Recycling Olympics ‘Top School in Suffolk’

Pupils from the seven best ‘recycling’ schools took part in this unusual Olympics. Games were played and the prizes were wooden items (pencil sharpeners etc). Moulton were chosen as the Top School in Suffolk for Recycling Knowledge!!! And as a Prize to the school we have been given a lovely picnic bench made out of recycled plastic.

Poems entitled ‘Summer’ – by Year 3…

Summer looks like fresh light sparkly green leaves

Summer is the colour of the blue cloudy sky

Summer smells like cold strawberry ice-cream

Summer tastes like sausages and kebabs laying on the barbecue.
Joel Pank

Summer looks like the cheerful happiness of a fresh start with new friends and faces and places

Summer is the colour of sunset pink in the baby blue sky

And purple roses on the emerald green grass

Summer smells like sweet cherries ripening on the trees as the hot summer goes on

Summer tastes like early evening barbecues with chicken kebabs cooking on the fiery coals.
Lowri Davies

Summer looks like freshly picked daisies and children having fun in the summer sun

Summer is the colour of all the beautiful flowers and the sun that shines above us

Summer smells like freshly cut grass and all the kinds of fruit

Summer tastes like sweet ice-cream and sugared strawberries.
Jude Lyell

Summer looks like beautiful fresh red flowers and cheerful people

Summer is the colour of lovely cold white ice-cream

Summer smells like light green lawned grass in the park

Summer tastes like hot dogs on the beach.
Sam Bates

Summer looks like a beautiful sunset in evening

Summer is the colour of the bright orange hot sun

Summer smells like hot dogs fresh off the barbecue

Summer tastes like freezing cold ice-cream.

HEALTH MATTERS

Administering of Medicines in School

Statutory guidance confirms that it is the responsibility of parents to administer medicines. Very few courses of medication are likely to be required to be taken during school hours. Doctors will normally prescribe medication that can be administered out of school hours. Routine administration of medicines is therefore not the responsibility of the school or teachers. There are medications such as inhalers or emergency treatments for allergies for which special arrangements can be made in consultation with the Mr Englebright.

Norovirus – Stomach Bugs

If your child becomes ill, they should be kept at home for 48 hours after the symptoms have ceased, to avoid the bug being passed on to others at school. This is in light of the current outbreak of this contagious infection. For further information see the Health Protection Agency website - http://www.hpa.org.uk/infections/topics_AZ/norovirus/faq.htm

SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

In the event of school closure due to severe weather conditions:-

I shall always make a decision by about 7.00 am so that local radio stations can pass on this information in good time. We include radio station information below.

Updated school information is available by selecting 2 (school information) when dialling the school telephone number (01638 750236)

Never take the risk in severe weather conditions that the school might be open and try to get to school. Better to be safe and stay at home.
