Moulton Golf Society

The picture shows the prizewinners, being Paul Delaney, Simon Medus, Rob Cottle and Darren Rose.Golf matches are being held about once every four weeks on either Friday afternoon or Sundays starting around 12.00 noon.

In May we returned to Waldringfield Golf Club. Where, I hear you ask, is Waldringfield? It is a friendly club just outside Woodbridge and once again we escaped the rain but were faced with some fearsome winds that made the course much harder than on previous visits. Nonetheless some good scores were submitted and there were four winners sharing prizes for the highest score, longest drive and two different “nearest the pin” challenges.

In June we visited Bourne immediately after the very heavy rainy season. Apart from torrential rain about an hour before our tee times and a short sharp shower just as we teeing off we enjoyed good sunny weather. The course was wet underfoot and evidence of the heavy rain was easily seen. The ground staff must be complimented on the condition of the course that clearly shows the extent of their hard work and preparation.. As with the previous match attendance was lower than last year, which was a pity since the golf was good and the new chef laid on an excellent meal.

Moulton Golf SocietyThe next venue is Cambridge national on Sunday 29th July and this promises to be a good day out. Starting in traditional fashion with bacon rolls and coffee then ending with a three-course dinner with 18 holes of golf squeezed in between it provides a good package for golfers of all standards. The numbers are limited so anyone interested in playing should contact Tony Jones (751176), Mark Curtis (751733), Dale Burch (552055) or Albert Shipton (552711) for more information as soon as possible.

Annual Meeting

Pictured from left to right Margaret Lee, Mark Cutis (Captain), Dale Burch, Tony Jones At the Annual Meeting in November the Golf Society was pleased to present a cheque for £509.00 to Margaret Lee the PR Officer of the St Nicholas Hospice. In accepting the cheque with grateful thanks Margaret said, “The Hospice belongs to the community it serves and without people like yourselves we could not do the work we do.” Pointing out that the Hospice is all about providing hospitality and support she quoted one of the patients saying “When I came here I was dying from a disease, now I am living with an illness”.
